Quake 4 is the fourth title in the series of Quake first-person shooter computer games. The game was developed by Raven Software and published by Activision. Raven Software collaborated with id Software, the crtors and historical developers of preceding Quake games. In this case, id Software supervised the development of the game as well as providing the Doom 3 engine, now referred to as "id Tech 4" and relsed under the GNU eral Public on 22 November 2011, upon which it was built. Quake 4 went gold in rly October 2005 and was relsed on 18 October 2005 for and later for Linux, Xbox 360 and Mac OS X. A special Collectors Edition also exists, including promotional material and the game Quake II with its expansions, The Reckoning and Ground Zero. The Xbox 360 version of Quake 4 is based on the Special Collectors Edition, and therefore also includes Quake II. On 4 August 2011 the game was made available through Stm. Plotwise, the game is a sequel to Quake II and takes place during the same war as Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Quake II, Quake 4, or Enemy Territory: Quake Wars do not share story lines with Quake or Quake III Arena; their only relation is their names and logos. Compared to other titles in the Quake series, Quake 4 has an incrsed emphasis on the single-player portion of the game. A multiplayer mode is available, but it does not involve playable bots like Quake III Arena, without 3rd party modifiions.

Description
In the mid-21st century, a barbaric alien race called the Strogg launched a massive invasion on rth. Originally believed to be an attempt to strip the planet of its natural resources, humans soon discover that the Strogg are simply after only the human remains of those they kill. Through a horrific process, the limbs and flesh of the fallen are fused with metal and machinery to crte the monstrosities that are the alien Strogg.
The Strogg and humans battle for yrs on rth, but as resources become depleted, rth mounts a counter-assault on the Strogg homeworld. The first assault force is launched from the fleet and encounters overwhelming resistance--most of the drop-ships are destroyed by the Strogg homeworld's massive defense wpon known as "The Big Gun." However, one surviving Marine brks through and is able to destroy the big gun and ultimately deft the Strogg lder, the Makron. But the war did not end there.
You are Matthew Kane, a member of the elite Rhino Squad and part of the next massive invasion that spans across the entire Stroggos planet. Equipped with hi-tech wpons, vehicles and tmed with rth's top marine squadron you soon rlize that this war is far from over. In fact, your worst nightmare is soon rlized when you discover that the only way to deft the Strogg is to become one of them.
